What are NDIS Supports?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding for a range of supports and services to help people with disabilities achieve their goals, enhance their independence, and improve their quality of life. Who are NDIS Supports for?
NDIS supports are specifically designed for:
● Individuals with Permanent and Significant Disabilities: People with disabilities that are likely to be lifelong and have a significant impact on their ability to take part in everyday activities.
● Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents, or Special Category Visa Holders: Participants must meet residency requirements, including being an Australian citizen, holding a permanent visa, or being a Protected Special Category Visa holder.
● People Aged Under 65 at the Time of Application: The NDIS is generally available to individuals under the age of 65. Once participants are in the scheme, they can continue to receive support even after turning 65.
● Residents of Australia: Individuals must be living in Australia when applying for and receiving NDIS support.
To determine eligibility, potential participants undergo an assessment process to ensure they meet the criteria established by the NDIS. This includes evaluating the nature of their disability, the impact on their daily life, and their support needs.
